What Customer Success holds

Customer Success covers everything after the sale that keeps a customer getting value and staying: how they get started, how they are supported when something goes wrong, and how you make sure they actually win with what they bought. It is where retention is won or lost, and retention is usually cheaper than acquisition, so the department carries more weight than its size suggests.

In a Business Unit, Customer Success is deliberately separated from Sales. Sales earns the first yes; Customer Success earns every yes after that. Keeping them apart means you can see clearly whether a churn problem is a sales-promise problem or a delivery problem, instead of guessing.
